Robert Shechtman
Robert Shechtman (1939-2002) came to West Michigan in 1971 to teach at the former Thomas Jefferson College, later dissolved and absorbed into Grand Valley State University. An award-winning composer as well as a jazz trombonist and bass player, Shechtman was known to many as an iconoclast with wide-ranging interests and a dry wit. These remastered archival recordings, overseen by the composer in the 1990s, provide insight into Shechtman's complex and kaleidoscopic musical world.
